Treatment Injury & ACC

Find out how we work with ACC and how to claim.

Although uncommon, complications can occur. Your Specialist will discuss these as part of informed consent.

Sometimes, a patient can be injured while receiving treatment from a registered health professional (called a treatment injury). Adverse outcomes can happen as a normal part of treatment, but sometimes things might not go as expected. In these cases, a claim may be covered if the injury isn’t a necessary part or ordinary consequence of treatment.

We will provide assistance by lodging a claim on your behalf with ACC. To do this, we will need to ask you for more information regarding your occupation and the nature of the work you do in order to complete all the fields in the ACC forms. With your consent, we can also contact your Insurer if they have an ACC team and offer an advocacy service to their members.

The time it takes to make a cover decision can vary depending on the type of injury and the processing time is outside of IntraCare’s control.
