Insurance & Payment Information

Dealing with your patients insurance claims and payment.

Insurance

  • IntraCare is affiliated with Southern Cross Healthcare and AIA Insurance. IntraCare can claim the cost or a significant part of the cost of an affiliated procedure directly from these insurers. For more information about affiliated procedures, please contact our administration team on 09 630 1961.
  • For non-affiliated procedures, IntraCare requires an acceptable prior approval from an appropriate insurer. If the prior approval is not received at least one business day prior to the scheduled admission day, the patient will need to pay for the procedure and claim this back from their insurer.
  • IntraCare can also seek a prior approval from an insurer on behalf of the patient for some procedures. Please contact our administration team on 09 630 1961 for further details.

Payment Terms

  • IntraCare can provide an estimate for the cost of a procedure.
  • If the patient is not fully insured and/or has an excess or co-payment, they will need to pay the portion of the estimate not covered by insurance and/or the excess, at least one business day prior to their admission. If payment is not received within this time frame, their procedure may be rescheduled.
  • The actual cost of the procedure may vary to the estimate. If the patient is not fully insured and/ or has an excess or portion to pay, the patient may be invoiced for an additional amount if the actual cost of the procedure is higher than the estimate. This is payable upon invoice. If the cost of the procedure is lower than the estimate, the patient may be eligible for a refund for any overpayment. Refunds are typically paid within 7 business days.
  • The price as indicated on the estimate or invoice(s) provided by IntraCare include GST (unless otherwise stated).
  • Any amounts due to IntraCare relating to the procedure either outstanding from the insurance provider or other party remains the patient’s full responsibility, including overdue payment, nonpayment, outstanding part-payment or if their insurance provider or other party subsequently declines cover or part cover.
  • If the patient has an outstanding balance due to IntraCare, they must agree to indemnify IntraCare from and against all costs and disbursements incurred by IntraCare in recovering the debt (including but not limited to internal administration fees, legal costs, IntraCare’s collection agency costs and bank dishonour fees).
