Work History

Dr Sam Merrilees completed his radiology training in Auckland in 2005, followed by Interventional Radiology fellowships in both Auckland and at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, Scotland. He then pursued further fellowship training in MRI in Melbourne, before being appointed Head of Vascular Imaging and Intervention at Monash Hospital.

In 2011, Dr Merrilees returned to Auckland to join the Interventional Radiology team at Auckland City Hospital.

While involved in all aspects of interventional radiology, he has particular clinical interests in the Endoluminal Stent Graft Programme and Interventional Oncology.

Dr Merrilees has contributed to peer-reviewed publications, co-authored book chapters, and regularly participates in both local and international conferences as an invited faculty member and convenor. He is also actively involved in registrar education through the Australasian Training Scheme.
