Work History
Dr Stephen Merrilees is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Auckland City Hospital. He is the NZ branch representative of the Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia (IRSA).
After completing radiology training in Auckland in 2005 he completed Interventional Radiology Fellowships in both Auckland and the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Following this he obtained further MRI fellowship training in Melbourne before taking up a post as Head of Vascular Imaging and Intervention at Monash Hospital in Melbourne.
In 2011 Dr Merrilees returned home to Auckland as one of the Interventional team at Auckland City Hospital.
He is involved in all areas of Intervention, but has particular interests in the Endoluminal stent graft programme and Interventional Oncology.
Dr Merrilees has published in peer reviewed journals, co-written book chapters, and been involved in local and international meetings both as invited Faculty and Convenor. He is also extensively involved in Registrar Training for the Australasian Training Scheme.
